Description: The NKAPC along with funding assistance from the Kentucky Heritage Council (KHC) has been surveying historic properties within Kenton County since 2001. The intent is to build a comprehensive database of these sites that will provide an insight into the historic character of the county. The database will enable both the public and the private sector to arrive at informed decisions regarding future development in historic areas. The database will also assist cities in identifying historic areas within their city limits that may be eligible for a National Historic Register nomination. As part of previous grants awarded over 250 properties within Kenton County have been surveyed with detailed survey form for each property. Surveys were carried out in the Cities of Taylor Mill, Independence, Fairview, Elsmere, Ryland Heights and unincorporated Kenton County. NKAPC Historic Buildings Survey More information on previous surveys conducted in 2000 and 2001 is available in the Kenton County Historic Resources Survey Report.
